Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav on Tuesday sparked a major controversy with his remarks on the newly-built Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. He said that the “Ram Temple is Bekaar (Useless),” as it was not built according to the traditional norms of the Temple construction in the country. Launching an attack on the BJP-led central government, Yadav remarked that traditional temples in India are not built in this manner, adding that the “Ram temple has not been built according to Vaastu.”
While speaking to a news channel, Yadav said: “I worship Lord Ram every day. Some people have done the patent on Ram Navmi. But, that Mandir (Ram Temple in Ayodhya) is bekaar (useless). It’s not how temples are built. The design and map of the temple is not according to Vaastu.”
