Nanoscale technology often allows scientists to creatively develop new applications by manipulating singular atoms for a variety of purposes such as nanobots for medicine.

Recently, a study was undertaken at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea, led by Ph.D. student Doeun Kim and assistant professor Hyeon-Ho Jeong. They developed a “mussel-inspired” one-shot nanoparticle assembly technique.

This technique will control functional nanoparticle assembly into uniform monolayers over large surfaces.

Employing nanoparticle components is often challenging despite its versatility, especially when fabricating a device. Therefore, scientists presented an electrostatic assembly as a potential solution, where nanoparticles attach to oppositely charged surfaces.
