Standing up against the atrocities of war in Gaza, hundreds of students in multiple premiere universities of the United States of America (USA) are holding protests on their varsity campuses. To stand in solidarity with the Palestinians, students at Columbia University, like in several past instances, have once again transformed the iconic Hamilton Hall into a symbol of protest.
This time, the building was renamed ”Hind Hall” in memory of six-year-old Hind Rajab and her family, who were tragically killed by the Israeli army in Gaza. The renaming of Hamilton Hall reflects a historical pattern of student activism at the university, with the hall serving as a focal point for various movements, including the notable 1985 blockade during anti-apartheid protests when it was dubbed ”Mandela Hall.”
