Extreme Heatwave Alert: IMD Predicts 2024 To Be Hottest Year On Record; Fresh Warning For Odisha, Bengal [Video]

Severe Heatwave Alert In India: The hottest year on record, 2024, is expected to bring with it severe heatwave conditions across much of India next week. Many locations in West Bengal and Odisha were under a red alert till the end of April, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Meanwhile, West Bengal, Bihar, and the interior of Karnataka are under an orange alert.

According to the weather department, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely over East and south peninsular India during the next five days. A fresh spell of rainfall has also been predicted along with lightning and thunder over the western Himalayan region between April 29-30.
