Chinese and Indonesian FMs on South China Sea, decoupling and Israel-Palestine conflict

China’s top diplomat emphasized on Thursday the need to be vigilant against camp confrontations and forming divisive “small circles” that threaten regional peace and stability.

After holding talks with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi in Jakarta, Wang noted that China and Indonesia can be engines of modernization for developing countries.

He stressed the importance of openness, inclusivity, and cooperation while opposing unilateralism, protectionism, and disruptions to industrial and supply chains.

Retno Marsudi stressed Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation based on international law, highlighting China’s significant role in Indonesia’s economy with over $127 billion in trade volume.

The two ministers also discussed the Israel-Palestine conflict, expressing support for Security Council resolution 2728 and advocating for a quick, unconditional, and enduring ceasefire. They emphasized the importance of restraint, de-escalation, and a two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian issue.
